At Tristram, we offer two simple options to help you sell your vehicle. We can either purchase your vehicle outright at an agreed price, or sell it on your behalf to help maximise its value.
With our Sell on Behalf service, we manage the entire process from start to finish, making it easy, secure, and hassle-free. Our team will complete a thorough inspection and review current market data to position your vehicle competitively for sale. We then provide a clear sales agreement and handle every step of the transaction for you.

Step 1 – Book your vehicle appraisal
Bring your vehicle in for an assessment. We’ll review the make, model, kilometres, and condition, and carry out a detailed inspection.
Step 2 – Valuation
Our team completes a comprehensive check and compares your vehicle against current market data. We’ll then agree with you on:
- A recommended listing price
- A minimum acceptable sale price
Step 3 – Agreement
Once you’re happy to proceed, we’ll prepare a simple digital agreement.
We’ll collect:
- ID and proof of ownership
- Bank account details for payout
- Confirmation of sale terms and agreed pricing
Step 4 – Vehicle preparation & marketing
We get your vehicle retail-ready and in front of buyers:
- Professional cleaning (interior & exterior)
- Minor touch-ups (if required and approved)
- Photography and video
- Listings on the Tristram website and Trade Me
- Social media promotion
Step 5 – Sales & negotiation
Our team handles all enquiries, test drives, and negotiations on your behalf ensuring serious buyers and the best possible price.
Step 6 – Sale completion & payout
Once your vehicle is sold, we manage the entire settlement process, including:
- Buyer payment and documentation
- Finance settlement (if applicable)
- Ownership transfer
Your sale proceeds are then paid out directly to you, less any agreed costs and commission.
